Women’s Program in Orange County, Southern California

OCEAN RECOVERY women’s program is designed in a gender-specific setting to target addiction and co-occurring disorders. We address multiple issues related to the disease of addiction which may not have been sufficiently resolved in the primary treatment center. We also offer care to those who have failed to maintain abstinence after primary care or outpatient treatment.

Clients work with professionals and counselors to target issues including alcoholism, drug addiction, eating disorders, mood disorders, imgsex/love addiction, self harm, and codependency. Women will go through an extensive evaluation and assessment upon admission to identify past and current problem behaviors. Treatment is tailored to the unique needs of every individual, recognizing that biological, psychological, and environmental influences are different for everyone, and therefore symptoms vary. It is important to note that the behaviors associated with addiction, the actual process of using drugs/alcohol and engaging in self-destructive behaviors, are only symptoms of the disease. In order for healing to take place, it is necessary to investigate the underlying issues which impact individuals and lead them to turn to using. Women who come to Ocean Recovery with a dual diagnosis will address each individual issue as it pertains to their addiction. More often than not, addiction involves a variety of complex components and interrelated symptoms. Ocean Recovery offers a comprehensive programs which deals with all facets of the disease of addiction.

Women will have an opportunity to identify and explore issues in a safe and comfortable setting without distraction where they can bond with other women who are experiencing similar struggles. Daily process groups allow clients to share their story and learn to express their feelings rather than trying to avoid them altogether by using substances or self-destructive behaviors. The disease of addiction leaves its sufferers feeling isolated and alone. At Ocean Recovery, women learn to relate to and connect with other women, support each other, and create healthy, long-lasting friendships. Women participate in multiple groups designed to provide comprehensive healing, including but not limited to:

  • Group Process
  • Cognitive/Behavioral Therapy
  • Nutritional Counseling
  • Psycho-Educational Lectures
  • Holistic healing (Yoga, Kung Fu, Tai Chi)
  • 12 Step & other support groups
  • Leisure & other recreational activities such as volleyball, surfing, swimming, and attendance at professional sporting events
  • Equine Assisted Therapy

Women who enter into the eating disorder program at Ocean Recovery attend weekly process groups to work on food, feeling, and body image issues. They meet with a registered dietician every week to set goals and track their progress. Clients cook meals and eat together so that they can be accountable to one another and receive support. They do collaborative dinner planning for the week, each participating in the meal preparation on her designated night. Restaurant outings are held every week with the dietician and a counselor present to provide an opportunity for clients to confront feelings and fears with regard to eating out. A process group is held immediately afterward for clients to process feelings surrounding the meal and how they managed. Ocean Recovery women’s program is designed with compassion and understanding to provide a safe setting in which women can heal and begin their journey to lifelong recovery.
